“I feel like I’m lucky that I always have my wheelchair with because I can just jump whenever I want.” That quote from Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham, about how he feels he has “an unfair advantage” over the BMXers and skateboarders at his local skatepark, tells you all you need to know about this remarkable young man. Born with spinal bifida, he started hitting skateparks in his wheelchair at the age of 8. Now in his 20s, what he can do in a wheelchair is quite astounding—and inspiring.
He is, as his Instagram account states, a “foremost expert in turning lemons into lemonade.” If you’d like to see more of his story, check out the X-Games video Adaptive Action.
