I love reggae music almost as much as I love bikes so this video works on a lot of levels for me. If you don’t like reggae, particularly dancehall, you might not be as enthusiastic. But the footage is fun and about half way through it turns into a pretty cool celebration of community bike shops. So even if dancehall’s not your thing, this video has its charm.
Enough charm that I think Mungo’s Hi Fi, a Glasgow-based sound system, might just make a few converts. Featured vocalist, Pupajim, rides a slang-tengy riddim that’s pretty infectious. Don’t be surprised if you catch yourself singing “Buh-buh-buh Bike Rider, me are the Bike Rider” next time you’re out city riding.
